Life As A Cotten: Settling in

As most of you may or may not know Milam and I recently purchased a home in Memphis, TN. After almost a year & a half of living in a studio apt. we are now getting nice and settled in our new home. For those of you who know Milam you can only imagine what this past year has been like with no weekend projects or things for him to "fix" around the house.I wanted to start off by putting up some pictures of what we have done with the house in the past month that we have been there.

This is the front of the home (picture was taken back in the summer time last year). I am extremely ready for it to look like this again!

In my true spirit I have already started to decorate the house for each the upcoming Holiday....Happy Valentines! (disregard me in the reflection on the door). Also as a side note we are currently in search of a new front door...

Here is our master Bedroom...this picture is a little old i took it to send a picture of our new dresser a wonderful Pottery Barn Outlet find! I will upload a more recent picture later...

Up next is our den area. One thing Milam loves about this room is that it has a real fireplace! We need to still have someone come inspect but since we are having a very warm winter we have yet to do so...

The den also has floor to ceiling glass windows that open up to our courtyard. This was taken shortly after we moved in and we did some clean up work outside. I love our new outdoor rug!!

Knowing Milam you know that we could not have bought a house without some sort of man room for him...Here is a picture of our bonus room that we are eventually going to turn into a media room (at least that is the plan). Also in this picture our the new leather loveseats we purchased. They are the most comfortable things ever!!

Here is our wonderful kitchen...This is the only room in the house that has seemed to mis out on any renovations in the past. Honestly I think we like it that way though because we can now make the house more of our own. We have big plans for this area and the den we are trying to plan to start this adventure within the next year or so...but for now it is not so bad if you don't mind tugging on drawers to open and shut them.

One thing we did do is finally after almost 3 years we printed our wedding photos!! I went to Walgreens and had them printed out for the new home and the cashier when i picked them up said "Oh yeah your the girl that just got married, right" i then slightly embarrassingly replied "um no i have been married for 2 1/2 years" she probably thought i was nuts oh well...Here is what we did with some of the pictures we printed out...

This has been something that i have wanted to do since the Christmas after we got married. This past Christmas we received the two photo frames from my parents (i have been on the search for these for a while). I can not take credit for the layout of this wall since it was all Milam's idea but they were paired with our framed wedding invitation that was given to us by our ministers wife (another item i absolutely love).

I couldn't leave Skyler out of this post...She is adjusting nicely to having a home again. Here are some pictures of here enjoying herself in her new environment...
